There are two main difficulties in making the tardis: firstly, it’s bigger on the inside than on the outside. Secondly, it can travel through time and space. Both of these are still wishful thinking, but scientists have recently made light particles move in space, which could be the first step towards a real life tardis…. maybe.

According to current physics, you can’t go backwards in time (it causes all sorts of problems).

If String Theory turns out to be true, then it is possible to go back in time in a parallel dimension (a universe that is very similar to our own), but that is not true time travel.

As for bigger on the inside, it dosn’t look possible either – which sucks because a Tardis would be the best!

Teleporters from Star Trek maybe be possible though – an experiment where they ‘teleported’ a single particle was demonstrated a few years back
