• Question: why does blood taste weird?

      From memory, it’s because there’s a lot of iron in it (part of the haemoglobin molecule that carries oxygen in the red blood cells and gives it the red colour). I also seem to remember, that if you are deficient in a mineral then you don’t mind the taste but it tastes nasty if you don’t need more of it…

      Probably because our body is telling us were not supposed to eat it!
      Blood has a high iron content which explains that sharp metallic taste.
