The colour of your hair is made by pigements in the hairs themselves. As you get older, the cells which make the pigment get less active, which causes you hair to lose its colour and become “grey”. It happens at different ages for everyone, depending on genetics (when it happened to your mum and dad), and other factors, such as if you smoke or have poor nutrition from your food.
