• Question: Why do we say "oww" if we get hurt and not "giraffes"?

      Ooh good question! I think it’s maybe what we’re taught when we’re younger and feel pain. Maybe if we were taught by parents and teachers to say giraffes then we might say that instead! It’s easy to say oww too, and allows us to breathe out which relieves some of the pain?!

      It’s probably a reaction that you can’t help making a noise, and the mouth movement for ‘owww’ is probably a face you make in pain. Along with aaahhh! if its really sore….
