Now that’s a tricky one…I think for people, probably the nastiest is Ebola virus, which causes people to bleed to death…fortunately it is rare. Influenza has been the worst in terms of numbers of people it can kill – the influenza pandemic in 1918 killed around 50 million people all over the world. Influenza is also not good for other animals. Sometimes, a particular strain of influenza will get into a barn full of chickens or turkeys and the farmer can leave them looking fine one night but the next morning find most of them already dead.
