      For me it took:

      2 years at A-level
4 years doing a degree at university
3 years of doing a PhD at university. (I’m doing this bit now)

So thats 9 years (ouch) to become a ‘doctor of physics’

A long time! I did my science subject throughout high school (6 years), then an honours degree at Uni (4 years), and then a masters degree at Uni (1year). By that point I then worked as a scientist. As I said, a long time.

It depends on what you want to go into. For me to become a Clinical Scientist –

2 years A level, 4 years undergraduate degree, 4 years as a trainee Clinical Scientist so 10 years. I’ve still got lots of exams to do if I want to get further in my career and get paid more!
