So you have a couple of important things in toothpaste that help keep your teeth clean and healthy.

One is Abrasives – This is hard granules of stuff that help rub the plaque off your teeth.
Another if Fluoride – This is a chemical that helps keep your teeth healthy and strong, it is added to water in some country to make sure everyone has a source of it in their diet.

The rest is just colouring and flavours to get you to buy it 🙂

It does a few things; it has a small amount of flouride, which is there to be a decay-resistant layer, Then the paste has some bits in it to help literally scrub off plaque. Finally, it has a minty flavour which temporarily will give you fresh breath.
