Any type of cancer happens because cells start to divide uncontrollably and the normal checks for cell division stop working. You can increase your chances of getting bowel cancer if you then eat certain types of food like red/processed meat which could aggrevate your gut. If you eat a diet with lots of fibre in it then you can reduce your chances. Also, if someone in your family has bowel cancer, you may also have a higher risk.
