Hi Jenny, I think if you are really interested in science then it’s not so hard – I always enjoyed biology at school and loved watching natural history programmes on television. I wasn’t so great at chemistry and physics but took the at A-level to ‘go with’ the biology – perhaps I should have done german and geography instead because I didn’t do so well at them. I think you tend to be good at what you enjoy and enjoy what you’re good at.
I’ve found that the hardest part is the learning and the work you have to do to when trying to get to be a scientist. Once you become one, you are used to it and can do it a lot more naturally. It definitely helps to enjoy what you are a scientist in. Studying at Uni and school was hard, but worth it to get to work with animals.
If you enjoy science now at school and carry on enjoying it as you get older, then it makes it easier and not so hard. To become a scientist, it’s best to study them at A-level and then at uni, which I’m sure sounds daunting now but it’s not too bad! As long as you enjoy it, I think that stands you in good stead.
