• Question: Have any of you played Microsoft's extravaganza Halo? If yes, Is it possible to recreate a Spartan Armour suit possible to withstand an intense amount of damage..to an extent? In simpler terms, can you create a peice of armour which can take large amounts of damage like jumping of a skyscraper without feeling any damage? - Suhail Pervaz , Moorend Academy

I’m afraid I’ve not played Halo, but I imagine it would be hard to make an indestructible suit. Ants, however, live in one – they can survive falls from huge heights.

You can make materials that can endure incredible forces and impacts, the tricky part is getting them to disperse that force gradually so the person inside also survives!

This is why cars have crumple zones, If you make a car rock solid and it crashes, then the person inside goes from full speed to stationary in a short space of time. This is a huge shock.

If you make cars that are designed to crumple upon impact then the person inside slows down more
gradually, as the car is crumpling into the thing it hit.
