• Question: If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?

      Just because we learn from them, doesn’t mean that the mistakes aren’t bad. If you get your arm caught in a machine and lose it, you wouldn’t want to do it again and lose your other arm. This doesn’t mean though that you are happy for losing your original arm.

      The lesson doesn’t always outweigh the consequence of the mistake…

      Sometimes we do insist on making our own mistakes though. As a kid I wouldn’t let my older brother or mum show me how to do something I’d insist that I want to try it my way. I think a part of that is because when we are young we want to learn how to approach things and not always be so dependent.

      I think also that depending on the mistake, we don’t want to make one because we’re scared about what other people will think of us. However, if you do make a mistake, you’re unlikely to make the same mistake again because you know know the consequences.
